Kevin Feenan is the founder and president of Knomaze Corporation, an IT management consulting company, and Rockcliffe University Consortium, a professional trade association supporting collaboration and providing managed solutions for educators and institutions using virtual environments. Kevin’s 35 year career has included authoring and research in the fields of information management, business processes, education technology, and game-based learning methods.

Renne Emiko Brock, MFA-VA, is an award winning artist, college professor, nonprofit establisher, board member, and Arts advocate empowering people to be their best virtual and tangible self by advancing excellence, exceptional pursuits, and individualism through creative expression and encouraging instruction with inspired results. The Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education 2020 Thinkerer Award recipient and has been teaching virtual world use since 2008 primarily with Peninsula College, University of Washington, and the Nonprofit Commons in Second Life. Since 1997, she has taught fine art, color theory, transformational multimedia, digital storytelling, marketing, community building, and author of “action-packed superheroes: your guide to revealing and utilizing your superpowers”.

Valerie Hill, Director of the Community Virtual Library, is a library and information science educator with a research focus on the intersection of information literacy and global digital participatory culture. She has taught at all age levels, served as a school librarian, and is a National Writing Project trainer.

Fred Beckhusen, aka Ferd Frederix, has been involved in virtual worlds since 2006 and is the owner and CEO of Micro Technology Services, Inc., a 31 year old Texas computer design and manufacturing firm which is a major provider of Duress and Emergency Notification systems to thousands of business and schools and hospitals including the VA system. His professional background is in semiconductor manufacturing, Unix, Linux, and Windows system design, and many microcomputer and microprocessors dating back to the early 1970s.

Dr. Andrew Stricker is an education innovation analyst with Air University’s LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education. In this position he conducts research in future concepts and advances in cognitive sciences and artificial intelligence for innovative applications in professional military education. Her work focuses on metaverse media and the creative potential of interactive, participatory, volumetric and virtual production to change our shared experiences. Evo serves as co-chair of Open Metaverse Interoperability Community Group, a cross-industry network of collaborators working on independent R&D toward a more effective public meta commons.

Mal Burns is host of the “Inworld Review” – a weekly news and discussion program which has been running for over 10 years. He and Tara Yeats run Metaworld Broadcasting to provide input and output services for TV in virtual worlds and the expertise for the same. Mal has used virtual environments for nearly a decade, is concerned about user interfaces in general and has a wealth of media and design experience behind him. Beth Ghostraven has been playing around with her appearance in virtual worlds since 2010. Tired of hunting for non-skanky clothing to wear to meetings and events, she started designing system and prim clothing for educators and other professionals. Mike Lorrey has a long history with virtual worlds. As an editor of the Neal Stephenson Quicksilver Metaweb Wiki, he helped flesh out the virtual world of the novel Snow Crash and other works of fiction by Stephenson, who himself coined the terms “metaverse”, “avatar” and “grid” as applied to VR/VW. A military veteran, Mike was a member of the Extropy Institute which pioneered a lot of early VR concepts. In 2006 he joined Second Life and quickly built one of the largest estates on the grid, developed the first virtual stock exchanges, and was the most frequent guest on the popular TreetTV show, Metanomics. Mike, through his exchange, capitalized the first commercial Opensim grid, Central Grid, and members of his team were part of the original LibSL group that built the tools that made Opensim possible. Mike also has extensive experience in aerospace and currently serves as Chairman of the Exhibits Committee of the International Spaceflight Museum, a Texas based 501c3 nonprofit that has facilities in both SL and the OS grid of Kitely.com.

Kayaker Magic brought more than 4 decades of RL programming experience to writing scripted objects for OpenSim. He teaches classes every week on using the 3D modeling program Blender to create objects in-world. Ghaelen D’Lareh (aka Dauna Kiser) is an educator, historian, artist, radio broadcaster, storyteller, and virtual world builder. She is the Executive Director of the Ageless Mind Project, the mother organization of Whole Brain Health in Second LIfe and Virtual Learning Village grid in the Opensimulator Metaverse.

She began her experience with virtual worlds in 2004 in the online game, URU. The rich, historical storyline and the global, international community showed her at once the potential for using virtual immersive worlds for teaching and storytelling. “Born and raised in Belgium, I have been infographist. In 94, I worked in one of the first companies dedicated to web content and created from scratch what would be called later a CMS. From then, I developed my skills, including web design, web development and network management). Web design remains my main activity (my side activity being songwriting and performing), and as for now, I developed and maintain a few dozens of websites for several clients.

When the first virtual worlds began to appear, I saw it as the next replacement of online forums, very popular by this time. And when real-time 3D rendering was added, like in Second Life, I embraced it as the next evolution of the worldwide web (yes, it’s a slow move) and created Speculoos World in 2011. The initial goal was to introduce Belgian people to this new environment, but it slowly became a more generic project.
For the needs of Speculoos grid, I developed some in-house solutions, like an installation setup for Debian, enhanced some existing solutions, like a unified set of helper scripts, and made some small contributions to OpenSim core.”

James Olmos (SL: Acoustic Energy) is a songwriter & photographer who finds creative outlets through life’s moments. His inspiration and muse, along with medium often changes as he discovers and crosses new paths. James takes chances with his art and is constantly evolving. He is curious and can’t sit still. James gets anxious and craves exploration on many levels. His social network posts range from songs he has written, photographs he’s captured and blog ramblings about his philosophical thoughts and life’s moments. Lisa Laxton is the R&D Visionary and CEO of the OpenSimulator community focused foundation Infinite Metaverse Alliance® (IMA). She is also President of Laxton Consulting LLC with experience providing various virtual world technology solutions for education, research, business, and defense clients. As EVO moderator and as Speaker, Helena trains language teachers to use Virtual Worlds with Transmedia Storytelling, games and Interactive Scenarios. Helena is EduNation, Second Life/OpenSim resident, CAMELOT.eu Award winner and presenter, actively supporting the value of VWs and machinima to promote language acquisition. Heike Philp is CEO of let’s talk online sprl, an immersive education specialist for language teaching and learning. She is co-initiator of EU funded LANCELOT (virtual classroom) and AVALON (virtual world) and the CAMELOT project (machinima for language teachers) and GUINEVERE (games in virtual worlds). Doug is the CEO and Chief Ideas Officer at the Bureau of Bright Ideas. He is also blogging about the Metaverse at Out of Scope. He has been working in and writing about the Metaverse for close to 15 years, and was the producer (and sometime host) of Metanomics, the world’s first “serious talk show” about the Metaverse. On his previous blog, he wrote close to 750,000 words about virtual worlds, identity, the Metaverse and governance.

DrFran has been an avid hobbyist in Virtual Worlds since April of 2006, with a first foray into Second Life. Since then she has participated in many, many worlds running philosophy and tech salons in High Fidelity, Sansar, and Vircadia.

Sally S. Cherry, BS, MT(ASCP) aka Sally Cherry is a STI Laboratory Consultant and Instructor who is also a tech geek. As a 3D Immersive Virtual Worlds Evangelist and Virtual Content Creator, she is passionate about building 3D immersive virtual worlds; sharing special interest content; conducting clinical laboratory training; and fostering collaborative networks. Dr. Andrew Stricker is an education innovation analyst with Air University’s LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education. In this position he conducts research in future concepts and advances in cognitive sciences and artificial intelligence for innovative applications in professional military education. His research addresses augmented cognition and developmental growth in reflective mindsets and contemplative practices. Andrew also engages in collaborative design of assistive immersive 3D virtual and augmented reality simulations for helping to improve complex problem-solving among teams. His graduate work was conducted at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas and Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. He is a member of the American Psychological Association. In 2020 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Board of Standards in Performance, Training and Instruction (IBSTPI).

Lyr is a Professor at Parker University in Dallas, Texas and a VR researcher. Since 2005, she taught 54 university classes in virtual worlds and mentored 800+ 13-year-old students. Her team won the $25,000 Grand Prize for their space simulation and she received the Thinkerer Award for her passion for virtual world education. Matt Cook is a Design Engineer for the University of Washington and a Unity virtual reality developer. Dr. Rachel Umoren is an associate professor of pediatrics, adjunct associate professor of healthcare simulation science and global health at the University of Washington. Her research involves the development and evaluation of virtual simulations for newborn care and neonatal resuscitation.

Joyce Bettencourt is co-founder and Vice President of AvaCon, Inc.(https://avacon.org), a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to promoting the growth, enhancement, and development of the metaverse, virtual worlds, augmented reality and 3D immersive spaces. Kayaker Magic brought more than 4 decades of RL programming experience to writing scripted objects for OpenSim. He teaches classes every week on using the 3D modeling program Blender to create objects in-world. Michael Bailey has been working with technology for the past 24 years. Originally a programmer, he discovered Second Life in 2007, and then became invested in the OpenSimulator project in 2009. Since then, he has acquired expertise scripting and building in virtual environments, as well as familiarity with the OpenSimulator software and it’s configuration. As an open source advocate, he makes heavy use of tools such as Blender and Open Broadcaster Studio. He’s streamed for the OpenSimulator Community Conference (OSCC) since 2014. He was instrumental in the OSCC 2016 live streaming setup, coordination, training, and A/V promotional materials. Currently a staff member at AvaCon Inc., he is dedicated to promoting projects for social good by means of video tutorials, presentations on useful software, and content creation.
