OpenSimulator Community Conference The OpenSimulator Community Conference is an annual conference that focuses on the community around the\u00a0OpenSimulator software. \u00a0The conference features two days of presentations, workshops, keynote sessions, and social events across diverse sectors of the OpenSimulator user base, including six tracks: Arts & Creativity Business & Enterprise Development & Open Source Education Research Social & Communities Organized as a joint production by the Overte Foundation and AvaCon, Inc., the first annual conference will be hosted on an OpenSimulator grid specifically designed for the conference, and we anticipate including additional grid venues in the future. What is OpenSimulator? OpenSimulator is an open source multi-platform, multi-user 3D application server that\u00a0can be used to create a virtual environment (or world) which can be accessed through a variety of clients, on multiple protocols. It also has an optional facility (the\u00a0Hypergrid) to allow users to visit other OpenSimulator installations across the web from an account on a ‘home’ OpenSimulator installation. OpenSimulator allows virtual world developers to customize their worlds using the technologies they feel work best – the framework is designed to be easily extensible. OpenSimulator is written in\u00a0C#, running both on Windows over the\u00a0.NET Framework\u00a0and on Unix-like machines over the\u00a0Mono\u00a0framework. The source code is released under a\u00a0BSD License, a commercially friendly license to embed OpenSimulator in products.
